About Me

I'm 54 years old and suffer from Parkinson's disease. Unfortunately, I can no longer manage two of my great passions in life, hillwalking and backpacking, but luckily I can still indulge in my greatest passion of all - photography.

I enjoy many types of photography, but landscapes are what really motivate, inspire and excite me. In the past I've travelled extensively throughout the upland areas of Britain, such as the Lake District, Scottish Highlands and Snowdonia. However, in recent years I've come to appreciate the lowland areas of East Anglia, particularly the beautiful Norfolk coast and my home county of Essex.

I use a Medium Format Bronica ETRSi as I believe the unique qualities of Fuji Velvia transparency film still make it first choice for serious landscape photography. My lenses for this system are 50mm, 75mm, 105mm, 150mm and 250mm. Exposures are determined by a seperate Pentax digital spot meter and I use a range of Hitech ND graduated filters to balance extremes of light and shade within the exposure latitude of the film.

Increasingly, though, I use an Olympus E3 digital SLR for it's convenience, portability, flexibility and excellent image quality. I suspect it won't be many years before I switch exclusively to digital but when I do it will be tinged with regret.

Over the years I've been fortunate to have many pictures published in numerous magazines including "Amateur Photographer," "Outdoor Photography," "The Great Outdoors" and "This England." This website represents a new venture for me and in the future I hope to stage my first exhibition.

I may not be able to do many of the activities that I used to enjoy but, thanks to my enduring interest in photography, this is still an exciting and productive time for me.
